2009 WildAire Cellars “Timothy” Pinot Noir

Hope everyone had a wonderful, long Weekend and wanted to express my take on this sensational, Willamette Valley Pinot Noir produced by WildAire Cellars.   Named in honor of Winemaker Matthew Driscoll’s Father, Timothy, I knew very early that this Pinot was going to be an absolute treat to get to know.   With a soothing, red garnet hue and a fragrant bouquet of earth, grass and perfume, this superb wine is joyously generous with offerings of strawberry, red currant, Maraschino cherry, pleasant vanilla oak, clove and faint menthol on the palate.  With masterful, crisp, zestful acidity, this Pinot Noir is one of my favorite Oregon Pinots to date.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2007 Chime Cellars Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

Happy Thursday to all and hope everyone has wonderful plans for the Weekend.  This was the third experience i have had tasting Chime Cellars wines, and this 2007 Willamette Pinot Noir by far was the most balanced and enjoyable. Mild to medium bodied with a fragrant nose of lite red cherry, clove, musk and faint mushroom, this wine besides having a tad of tartness, drinks easy.  Good value for $12.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Airlie Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2007

With a faint nose of musk, cedar and mushrooms this is a feeble attempt at trying to be Burgundian that comes off paper thin.

Left Coast Cellars 2006 Pinot Noir Cali’s Cuvee

This Willamette Valley Oregon Pinot Noir drinks smooth and consistent offering flavors of ripe Bing cherries, clove, faint vanilla spice and a hint of menthol on the back palate.  For a Pinot Noir for $17, this is a sound buy.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Capezzana Barco Reale di Carmignano 2006

Carmignano is an Italian wine region located in the Tuscany region and centered around the city of Carmignano, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) northwest of Florence and were know for creating “Super Tuscan” wines before they became en vouge.   I was so excited to try this wine from this special region.

I am making an assumption that this wine could have been a little corked judging by the continuous dank flavor in the mid palate venturing all the way through the finish, but this wine as a whole was extremely unbalanced and had a rugged tannin that was very unpleasant.  On a good note, this wine did have a nice bouquet of musk and violets and some rich flavors of dark chocolate, tobacco and toasted oak, but for the most part, this wine was extremely disappointing.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Chime Cellars Sonoma County 2009 Pinot Noir

Saw this Pinot Noir on sale for $16.99 and noticed it had gotten “91 points” in The Wine Enthusiast,  which says to me that it was a very good value, or they spent alot of money in advertising.

From the moment I opened this wine, I loved the nose, as it lent wonderful aromas of ripe red cherries and raspberries, crisp juicy fruit, mint with a slight undertone of milk chocolate.  With a nice moderately lean mouthfeel and not overly thick like some California Pinots; I thought this wine was well on it’s way to being the ultimate steal, but was disappointed how thin the wine became after 15 minutes of being aerated.   Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.
