Mackey Vineyards 2008 Syrah, Walla Walla Valley

Refined nose of earth, musk, meat and mushroom while offering smiling faces flavors of baked blackberry pie, black cherry and a hint of mild mint.  Only thing I wish about this wine was that it was a little more muscular on the palate. Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2008 Ash Hollow Petit Verdot

First off, I love what these guys do, but to be honest, even though it was Ash Hollow Vineyards producing this 100% Petit Verdot, I was truly terrified.  Friday Evening, already within another dimension, space and time, I dug deep and ecstatic I became.   WOW!  Just wholesome, bursting dark fruit that is relentless with its generosity and warmth.  Loved this wine and the only downfall is that it is quite limited and only available in their tasting room.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2008 Mackey Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley

Happy Friday to all and hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!   Here is the first of many wines I have tried over this Holiday week and one of my favorites, by Winemaker produced by Roger Mackey out of Walla Walla, Washington.  This 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 15% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot has a harmonious, masterfully refined bouquet of classic Walla Walla fruit, tobacco, musk and cassis. With stellar mouthfeel, elegant tannin and delectable flavors of black currant, green bell pepper, black licorice and spice, this wine was a blessing to drink. Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2008 Skylite Cellars Soiree

Yet another wonderful wine from Skylite Cellars offering this delicious blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 23% Syrah. Love how the Syrah seduces its way into and throughout the nose on this wine, lending a seductive character of smoke, musk, deep concentrated dark fruit and earth. Filled with luxurious fruit that you would expect coming from Skylite Cellars upon the palate and a dash of spice, this is a rich, easy sipping wine with splendid character.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2007 Ash Hollow Nine Mile

Ash Hollow strikes again with this estate blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Malbec and 10% of Petit Verdot with a gripping bouquet of perfume, fresh cut grass, blackberries, blueberry and a hint of both juicy fruit and rugged earth.  With a mouth full of seeping dark fruit, tobacco, oak and a sturdy finish of faint black licorice and vanilla extract; this wine is hauntingly captivating and yummy!  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2007 Corvus Cabernet Sauvignon

Massive, sleek, full bodied Cabernet with gobs of voluptuous, dark fruit, vanilla cream and divinely layered undertones of cocoa and dill.  Just a masterfully constructed wine with velvety tannin that sits softly in the mouth and a finish that makes the heart grow fonder.   Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Trio Vintners 2009 Grenache- Far Away Vineyard

Happy Thursday to all and have been so excited to write about this Grenache from Trio Vintners.   From a “Far Away Vineyard” which sits at 1400 feet above the Yakima Valley floor of the Rattlesnake Hills Mountains, this 100% Grenache has a contemplative, Holiday bouquet of red delicious apples, raw clove, nutmeg and vanilla extract.  Filled with flavors of delectibly, scrumptious dark berries, candied apples and partnered with smooth mellow tannin, this Grenache is very avant garde and total opposite of what you would expect coming from Grenache, but nonetheless, a very enjoyable wine!  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Col Solare Winery 2007 Columbia Valley Red Wine

With the exquisiteness of a gold medal performance, this Columbia Valley Meritage Blend offers magnificent mouthfeel and poetically refined flavors of buttery toffee, mocha, dill, faint fresh mushrooms, perfume and spice.  Glorious all the way through with a generous finish.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Trio Vintners 2008 Cabernet Franc

Just found out about these small production wines out of one of my favorite wine regions in the United States- Walla Walla, Washington and was looking very forward to taste Trio Vintners 100% Cabernet Franc, which as it’s own wine can sometimes come off clunky and flat, but when done right, can be wonderfully aromatic with rich ripe fruit and superb spice.

Medium bodied and with a concentrated, fragrant nose of vanilla wafers, oak, earth and perfume, this deep purple hued wine holds a steady balance through the front palate and mid palate lending tones of dark chocolate, dill and wild dark berries.  Not a huge finish on this wine, but definitely a solid effort  and went really well with the sirloin stew I had for dinner. Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2007 Skylite Cellars Reserve Bordeaux Style Blend

Happy Sunday and once again writing about another massive effort by Skylite Cellars with this Columbia Valley Meritage blend consisting of 51% Malbec, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Carmenere. Offering a riveting bouquet of sweet perfume, dill, nutmeg, cigar box  and seduction, this masterfully layered medium bodied red has an elegant full mouthfeel that is not overbearing with expressive flavors of clove, black currant and powdered blueberries.  Absolutely love Skylite Cellars vision and wines. Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.
