2010 Pedroncelli Petite Sirah, Sonoma County- Dry Creek Valley

Entrancing aromas of sweet cedar, plum, licorice and baking spice titilate the senses, as beautifully, ripened dark fruit seduces the palate; The Pedroncelli Family has  successfully made me believe in the power of Petite Sirah. Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Dry Creek Vineyard 2009 Heritage Zinfandel

This Sonoma County Zinfandel with 13% Petite Sirah has a dark plum on the verge of coal black complexion with an enriched, refined bouquet of black pepper, unsweetened baking chocolate, blackberries, meatiness and a touch of all spice.  Medium to Full bodied with a pleasant frequency of jamminess, this polished wine has a consistent drive of vanilla extract, rounded oak, sweet blueberries and blackberries. Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Cameron Hughes Lot 229 Napa Valley Petite Sirah

Happy Sunday to all and wanted to lend my thoughts on this very peculiar new release by Cameron Hughes, a Petite Sirah from Napa Valley.  With a gigantuan, hypnotic, “Drop a quarter on the top of it and it won’t sink to the bottom of the glass” texture and hue, this wine to my surprise with it’s obscenly dense color and body comes off very subdued on the nose and with it’s flavors, offering faint blackberry and boysenberry notes with a consistent push of liquid black licorice.  Kind of dumbfounded and neutral like Switzerland on this one.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.
