2005 Chateau Coufran Haut-Medoc

Massive, thick, Left Bank Bordeaux with a captivating color of ruby red fused with plum purple, lending a enriched bouquet of toasted oak, dark cherry, damp gravel and leaves.  This wine is definitely structured to be paired with a hearty main course offering thick dark red fruit, rich soil, unsweetened baking chocolate and nutmeg on the palate.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Chateau Verdignan Haut Medoc 2005

This Cru Bourgeois Superior classified Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc blend from the upper-Medoc has a beautiful plum-blood red hue and a nose of vanilla wafer, tobacco and musk, but disappoints with a flat offering of cranberry and raspberry on the palate. Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2005 Chateau La Garde, Pessac Leognan

Alluring, fragrant nose of fresh green grass, dark berries, red fruit and vanilla with polished tannin and an expressive delivery of coffee, tobacco and black cherry. Stellar throughout and paired very nicely with my baked, lightly seasoned, pork chop dinner. Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2005 Chateau Lamonthe-Bergeron, Haut Medoc

This Cru Bourgeouis blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc has an attractive bouquet of clay, touch of subliminal sweet berry, perfume, lavender and hearty cigarbox. Sound medium bodied with a compact disposition of deep currant, black cherry, vanilla extract, tobacco and wholesome earth, I absolutely loved the integrated oak influence evolving at the back of the midpalate and all the way throughout the lengthy, relaxed finish.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2003 Chateau Lalande Cru Bourgeois Listrac-Medoc

This Left Bank Bordeaux consists of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot has a firm bouquet of heavy pomegranate, musk, perfume, gravel and toasted oak.  With a very pleasant mouthfeel, this wine unfortunately falls extremely thin in the mid palate, finishing with faint flavors of blueberry, lilac and a moderately rugged tannin.

Afterthought:  I have to say after some serious decanting, this wine takes you on quite the journey, lending aromas ranging from freshly cut green grass, a fragrance of shellfish and ocean one experiences while walking upon a beach on a overcast day; ( MADNESS, I know!) and a smidgen of mango and barnyard to boot.   Cheers to all and Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2000 La Tourelle De Croizet-Bages Pauillac

With a coal black, leviathan hue and bouquet of gamy damp earth, musk, lavender and birch bark. This hearty red has flavors of wild  blackberries, gravel and a subliminal hint of faint juicy fruit.  A wild ride that finishes with a semi rugged tannin.  Keep Believing and Keep Drinking.

Capezzana Barco Reale di Carmignano 2006

Carmignano is an Italian wine region located in the Tuscany region and centered around the city of Carmignano, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) northwest of Florence and were know for creating “Super Tuscan” wines before they became en vouge.   I was so excited to try this wine from this special region.

I am making an assumption that this wine could have been a little corked judging by the continuous dank flavor in the mid palate venturing all the way through the finish, but this wine as a whole was extremely unbalanced and had a rugged tannin that was very unpleasant.  On a good note, this wine did have a nice bouquet of musk and violets and some rich flavors of dark chocolate, tobacco and toasted oak, but for the most part, this wine was extremely disappointing.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2 up Shiraz 2004

Medium bodied with flavors of rustic earth, gunflint, plum, dark plump cherries, dark chocolate and a huge clay component, this Australian Shiraz has a lengthy finish of toasted oak and red apple. A very good value at $10.99.   Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Chime Cellars Sonoma County 2009 Pinot Noir

Saw this Pinot Noir on sale for $16.99 and noticed it had gotten “91 points” in The Wine Enthusiast,  which says to me that it was a very good value, or they spent alot of money in advertising.

From the moment I opened this wine, I loved the nose, as it lent wonderful aromas of ripe red cherries and raspberries, crisp juicy fruit, mint with a slight undertone of milk chocolate.  With a nice moderately lean mouthfeel and not overly thick like some California Pinots; I thought this wine was well on it’s way to being the ultimate steal, but was disappointed how thin the wine became after 15 minutes of being aerated.   Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.
