2010 E. Guigal Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Blatant barnyard and meaty musk dominate the aromatics of this Southern Rhone classic, as deep dark concentrated fruit, unsweetened black licorice, moderate tobacco presence and dry green herbs mingle with one another upon the palate.  With poetically rounded, soft tannins that grip wonderfully all the way thorough a lengthy finish; this Chateauneuf-du-Pape gives me faith that great modern day wine making still exists. Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Bodegas Muga Reserva 2011

One of the most brilliantly executed wines I have had in some time.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Woodinville Wine Cellars 2009 Indomitable, Columbia Valley

This classic Bordeaux-style blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and a 20% Cabernet Franc lends a fresh nose of perfume and sweet cedar, venturing into flavors of crushed black peppercorns, massive dark fruit, black licorice and baking spice; this full bodied wine screams to be paired with rich, fatty beef dishes with its higher acidity.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2012 Aberrant Cellars, Pinto Noir, Amplus, Gran Moraine Vineyard, Yamhill-Carlton, Oregon

With a concentrated nose of red currant, perfume and rich red raspberry jam; this hearty, extremely refined Pinot expresses tobacco and smoky fruit on the palate, accompanied by wonderfully present acidity and mild, pleasing tannins. Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2012 Aberrant Cellars “Confero” Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley

Offering a beautiful, hearty, Hedonistic hue and a poetic nose of musk, oak, faint eucalyptus and tangy earth; this immaculate structured Pinot gifts sound acidity, flavors of Bing cherry, luscious red raspberry, clove and an inviting brininess.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2011 Burgess Cellars, Napa Valley Merlot

Elegantly dense while offering flavors of rich red raspberry, tart red cherry, faint menthol and a subliminal hint of Left Bank Bordeaux funk. This beautiful release from “Class of 72” Napa legend, Tom Burgess epitomizes what every California Merlot should be. Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Robert Keenan Winery

I am honored to have had the opportunity to taste three wonderful reds from the Robert Keenan Winery, established in the Spring Mountain District in Napa Valley.  Here is what I found.

Keenan Winery 2010 Syrah, Napa Valley :  Spicy black fruit, musk, slight dill on the nose with a hearty, yet velvety offering of smokiness, dark chocolate, earth on the palate.  A perfectly calculated Syrah with a sublime, lengthy, semi wet finish.

Keenan Winery 2011 Cabernet Franc, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District:  This 35th anniversary release is elegantly smooth, gifting poetically calculated attributes of tobacco, graphite and dark currant. With a profoundly poetic mouthfeel, sound acidity and a engaging lingering tannin; this glorious Cabernet Franc has a embracing finish of tar, toasted oak and spice.

Keenan Winery 2011 Merlot, Napa Valley:  This 35th anniversary dense Merlot lends a refined nose of sweet cedar, luscious wild dark fruit and course ground black pepper. Accompanied with tremendous flavors of divine plum, blackberry and fine English pipe tobacco across the palate; this outstanding Merlot seals the deal with medium weight firm tannin and a memorable, seemingly forever finish.

What a wonderful ride with these outstanding wines and if you want true California wines that offer more than just big fruit and no structure. Order yours today!

Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.
