All Time Best Songs

Here is my list of Top 10 Songs of All Time; Please comment, agree and disagree.

1.  Living Colour – “Cult of Personality”.  The minute I heard this song, I knew it was everything I was searching for in song. Furious, Aggressive, Massively Produced ~ The absolute shit!   Till this day, Living Colour is still renowned as being my favorite band ever;  Only damnation of this song; Living Colour got pigeon holed and everyone overlooked the magnitude of everything else they have done.  LIVING COLOUR IS SO AMAZING and truly take the opportunity to peruse there life altering music.

2. Stevie Wonder – “Superstition”.  How can you dispute the infectious brilliance of this song; Universal appeal.

3. Stevie Wonder – “As”.  An Angelic, uplifting anthem that moves me so deeply inside every time I listen to it.  I sing, on the verge of tears, happiness and Freedom.

4.  EVERY LED ZEPPELIN SONG, with the exception of “D’yer Maker” –  You could play these albums from head to toe thousands of years from now and they would still be just as massive and life altering as ever; Timeless Music that is indisputable.

5.  The Righteous Brothers –  “Unchained Melody”.  WOW!  Goose bumps and scrap the “Ghost” reference out of your silly little mind and you got one of the most beautiful climaxes in the history of any song ever recorded.

6.  Isley Brothers – “It’s your Thing”. Out of the gates, so engaging and makes me want to jump out of my moving car and dance in front of the entire fucking, uncivilized world.

7.  Kansas – “Dust in The Wind”.  Heartfelt, eerie and sentimental to my heart; This in my opinion is the best ballad of all time.

8. Otis Redding – “Change Gonna Come” Within a time of sorry and despair I found Otis Redding and this rendition of the Sam Cooke Classic made me weep and exorcise most demons.

9.  Stevie Wonder – ” You and I”; One more Stevie tune.  I found and bought “Talking Book” when my Dad was sick and this song introduced so much cleansing, faith, love, hope and uplifting vibes throughout my soul ; Amazing

10. K C and the Sunshine Band – “Get Down Tonight”.  YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Well I remember them all Layden…you did good man!
I must add my favs though. Hot Legs Rod Stewart @ Steppenwolf Live…LOL
The Steppenwolf Live if you listen could be talking about today! It’s classic to me…Makes me want to dance EVERYTIME!
    *Goes good with Jack also…LOL
**Opinion not Necessarly That Of Mr. LR
    Luv to you…..Wolfie

  6. These wouldn’t be my choices, with the exception of Led Zeppelin. I would add “More Than A Feeling” by Boston and a couple Aerosmith songs, “Sweet Emotion” and “Dream On” to the top of my list. Same with “American Woman” by The Guess Who, “Roundabout” by Yes, “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac, “Suite Judy Blue Eyes” by CSN &Y. Most of the guitar-oriented rock artists of the 70s were young and talented beyond their years. We will never see this kind of talent ever again in our lifetime.

    • Shit! The whole first Boston album! Yeah, you are right. Great calls on the other tracks as well. 🙂

    • I like cellarmistress’ list way better….but, Layden gave it a real good shot of 10 top songs for himself 😉 All music is tops with someone…just a matter of opinion is all….

      • Great comments and thoughts on your own personal favorites. I think my Top 10 favorites are very sentimental; Maybe too sentimental. I think Queen “Show Must Go On” is one I left out and pretty much the whole first Boston album. Thank you so much for adding your thoughts and Favs.

  7. I agree with your Zeppelin choice. I find missing some Fleetwood Mac. I would listen to all you have listed.

    • Everyone is mentioning THE MAC ATTACK! Gold Dust Woman?

  8. Already gone- the eagles
The space between- Dave Matthews Band
    The turning away- Pink Floyd
    American Pie- Don McLean
We didn’t start the fire-Billy Joel
All through the night- Cyndi Lauper
    against all odds- Phil Collins
    Around here- counting crows
    One- U2
    World- five for fighting

  9. I agree with most of your list, especially “Superstition” (or anything Stevie Wonder), “Unchained Melody” “Get Down Tonight” (I love all KC & The Sunshine Band), and Led Zeppelin. I’d add The Doors, “Love Her Madly” and “Roadhouse Blues.” Maybe some Pink Floyd (“Comfortably Numb?”). Bee Gees: “Words.” I think Andy Gibb was highly underrated and his life cut too short. I loved “I Just Want To Be Your Everything.” Dave Matthews Band: “Crash Into Me.” I agree with the above commenter, “Round Here” or “Raining in Baltimore” by Counting Crows. I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here.

    • The Counting Crows I don’t get, but everything else is stuff I missed. 🙂

      • Listen to “Raining in Baltimore,” “Round Here,” and “Goodnight Elisabeth. Poetry and emotion. 🙂

      • Sassy!

      • Southern Sass. 🙂

  10. Nice choices!

  11. In addition to the above, would I be biased in suggesting “Beth” by KISS and “Goodnight Elisabeth” by Counting Crows? 😉

    • Have always been a long time Kiss fan until the last 10 years.

      • Same here. The old stuff is the best.

  12. Crazy no Beatles.

    • Yeah. Like the Beatles, but not my bag. Soul and Classic Rock are pretty much my Top 2 genres of music.

  13. Chicago “Saturday in the Park” would have to be on the list somewhere…. Oh and Gary Wright.. “Dream Weaver” – now that would be my number one SONG!!!

  14. I like your choices, missing from the list for me …

Van Morrison (my fave song: “And the Healing has Begun” from the album, Into the Music)
    The Stones
    Pink Floyd
    Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler
    Elvis Costello

    Thanks for sharing!

  15. Some great tunes on your list brother. Didn’t realize you were such a huge Stevie fan. Interesting choice of Cult of Personality in your top slot. Props for your inclusion of Zep, Kansas, and KC and the Sunshine Band.

  16. I like your choices, Jordan loves Cult of Personality and who doesn’t like KC and the Sunshine Band ya just gotta dance! I reallyy need to think about my top ten all time favorite songs….I like so many different genres but, I guess it depends on my mood and what I’m doing…. Yes not sure if read that convo the girls and I had on Twitter about that but there are definetly certain songs for certain times 😉
