Cameron Hughes Lot 210 2008 Merlot

Cameron Hughes strikes again with this delicious Napa Valley Merlot. Full bodied and with wonderful depth, this rich wine offers hearty layers of plum, earth, vanilla extract with a pleasing wisp of clove on the palate.  One of the best Merlots I have had from Cameron Hughes and an absolute steal for $12.99.   Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Villa Pillo Rosso di Toscana Cingalino 2009

Had this red blend table wine last night with homemade Chicken Cacciatore and it was flat across the board.

90 + Cellars Lot 37 Shiraz, McLaren Vale, Australia, 2010

Happy Wine Wednesday to all and delving into the some of the 90 + Cellars releases since being back in New England, and last night tasted the 2010 McLaren Vale Shiraz.  With a deep classic Australian Shiraz plum and dark cherry hue, this wine is medium bodied with balanced flavors of red cherry, rich dark fruit with a hint of fig. Quaffable on its own, or paired with grilled burgers or a thick, juicy sirloin, this wine is good value for $10.99 even though it is little heavy on the oak. Just be sure to let it get some air for 30-45 minutes. Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

BI Wine Selection

Hello from Escazu, Costa Rica about 20 minutes up in the mountains outside of San Jose and wanted to tell you about a wonderful, quaint wine shop called “BI Wine Selection”  I came across yesterday.

With a nice selection of wines from Argentina, Chile, Spain, Italy and France I felt right at home, greeted by the friendly smiling staff of Nurys, Daliya and Jairo who immediately offered me assistance, asking if I would like to try some wines;  NOW YOU’RE TALKIN!  :)

The first of the two wines I tasted was a 2007 Limited Novas Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon- Carmenere Blend made from Organic grapes and was one of the best Chilean wines I have ever had.  With a contemplative, concentrated nose of sweet perfume, faint green pepper and orange zest, this medium bodied wine on the palate offers a rich spectrum of dark fruit, balanced fresh soil with balanced acidity.  :)

With a wonderful start, I was treated by Nurys, Daliya and Jairo to another scrumptious wine, a 2007 Agriverde Riseis Montepulciano D ‘ Abruzzo.  Old World and Rich, this Italian red offers a bouquet of leather and rustic earth while lending a pleasant tartness, flavors of cranberry, baked cherry pie and toasted vanilla on the palate.  A little heavy on the tannin, but with age and paired with a hearty Italian meal, this wine will be perfect!

After being treated like a dear friend even though I was stranger, I thanked my gracious hosts and went about my way off into the soothing sunshine smiling both on the inside and out, realizing I had stumbled across a perfect moment in time and a fabulous wine shop.   Please visit BI Wine Selection at http://biwineselection.com/.

Norton 2009 Malbec Reserva

Mild with a reek of mildew and formaldehyde while offering flat, faint, dark fruit.  Need I say anymore.

2007 Aurielle Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Deep into the abyss, dark, glorious hue while offering an inviting bouquet of dill, toasted oak and cigar box.  Elegantly refined, this medium bodied Napa Valley Cabernet lends blissful flavors of powdered dark fruit, cocoa, lime zest, vanilla and cassis on the palate.  An absolute gem and quite honored to have had the opportunity to experience this pristine wine.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2005 Chateau Coufran Haut-Medoc

Massive, thick, Left Bank Bordeaux with a captivating color of ruby red fused with plum purple, lending a enriched bouquet of toasted oak, dark cherry, damp gravel and leaves.  This wine is definitely structured to be paired with a hearty main course offering thick dark red fruit, rich soil, unsweetened baking chocolate and nutmeg on the palate.  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

Cameron Hughes Lot 273- 2009 Arroyo Seco, Monterey County Chardonnay

Merry Chrismas to all and hope everyone has a blessed day with their loved ones!   Been out of the loop for a week or so, but have a couple wonderful wines to speak of.  The first, is Cameron Hughes Lot 273- 2009 Arroyo Seco, Monterey County Chardonnay.  To be candid, I enjoy alot of Cameron Hughes red offerings, but in the past, I have felt his white Lot releases have been a little lackluster, especially his Chardonnays. But today is a new day and this Lot 273 is absolutely tremendous priced at just $9.99.   Vibrant, crisp and full of yummy offerings of tropical fruit, pineapple, citrus delight while lending wonderful nuances of toasted oak, mild butterscotch and vanilla, this Central California Chardonnay is an absolute steal and should be purchased by the case without hesitation!  Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.

2005 Chateau Larteau

HORRIBLE AND WOULDN’T SERVE THIS TO MY WORST ENEMY.

2005 Blair Estate Napa Red

This magnificent Bordeaux blend consisting of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot entrances the senses with blessed offerings of homemade blackberry pie, dark cherry, all spice and cassis while embraced with rich, silky tannin, tranquil mouthfeel and a finish that lingers like a recent lover’s fragrance, allowing one to to reminise about each touching moment.  It is abundantly clear, I loved this wine!   Keep Drinking and Keep Believing.
